Vegetarian Weight Loss Program

A person develops weight as a result of calorie-dense foods that are either high in fat or high in sugar. Reducing the overall calorie intake is the best way of reducing weight.

Vegetarian diet is the best way to reduce weight.

Listed below are certain guidelines that can be followed while planning a vegetarian weight loss program.

  1. A perfect vegetarian weight loss diet should consist of a combination that is balanced with vegetables, fruits and nuts. Ideal vegetarian weight loss plan involves usage of large amount of fresh vegetables that are steam cooked, a moderate amount of seasonal fruits, and minimal amount of other vegetarian foods that contain healthy fatty acids. These include nuts like almonds and walnuts, avocados and certain oils like flax seed.
  2. Diet should be rich in proteins and dietary fiber, must have average amount of carbohydrates and include very low amount of fats.
  3. One should avoid diet plans that promote increased use of carbohydrate foods like breads, pastas, potatoes and refined sugar foods. These can be replaced with whole wheat bread, whole grain cereals, oats and rice. Desserts, cheese and other calorie-dense dairy products contain huge concentration of fats. These should be avoided and replaced with fat-free alternatives.
  4. Ideally, a perfect weight loss program should have a diet that contains an average of 1200 calories. This is the limit per day. The diet must include a combination of whole grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, seeds and dairy products.
  5. Another important constituent that must be taken care of is to include a regular source of vitamin B-12 in the diet.
  6. Soy products are a useful means of providing the necessary protein concentration in the body.
  7. One should consume 8-10 glasses of water per day. Sufficient intake of water is necessary in preserving the health of an individual.
