         Over the years, vegetarianism has gained immense importance in the dietary habits of individuals primarily due to several benefits associated with it.

Some of the benefits of vegetarian diets are listed below.

  1. Vegetables and fruits are rich in nutrients that are helpful in reducing the incidence of heart attacks and improve the texture of skin. Some of these nutrients include vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients that are considered to be vital for good skin health.

  1. Green leafy vegetables, carrots, beetroot, turnip and radish are highly abundant in carotenoids and vitamin A. These are important in preserving the health of the eye.
  1. Vegetables and fruits contain compounds that have been found to contain anti-tumorigenic properties.
  1. Eleven out of thirteen recognized vitamins are made by plants. These include beta carotene (vitamin A), thiamin (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), niacin (vitamin B3), pantothenic acid, pyridoxine (vitamin B6), biotic, folic acid, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), Vitamin E and Vitamin K.
