Recipe For Grill Marinated Steaks

Flank steak is slightly tough but lean and tasty meat, which tastes better with the tenderizing effects of marinade. Here are the various ingredients that you will be requiring when you make grill marinated steaks:

Marinade Ingredients:

1/3 cup of olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons of red wine vinegar

1/3 cup of soy sauce

1/4 cup of honey

1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper

Other ingredients:

2 pounds of flank steak

Salt

Freshly ground pepper

Make 1/4 inch deep knife cuts, about an inch apart across the surface of the steak. Mix all the marinade ingredients. Steak should be coated with the marinade and placed in a large freezer bag. Seal the bag and place in a bowl. Chill and marinate for at least 2 hours.

Coat the grill rack with olive oil. Preheat the grill with high, direct heat.

Sprinkle the steak generously with salt and freshly ground pepper. The steak should be placed on the hot grill. If a gas grill is used, cover the grill. Grill for 4 to 6 minutes on each side. To see if the steak is cooked, test it with your fingers. When the steak is raw, it feels squishy, and if well done, it will be firm and contracted.

Flank steak is best had medium rare as well done will make it too tough. When done, place on a cutting board and cover with aluminum foil to keep it from drying for at least 10 minutes.

So one can make wide slices, they should be made thinly and slightly diagonally against the grain. Excess marinade can be used with the steak when it is boiled and simmered for several minutes. Salsa or horseradish sauce can also be used.
