Recipe For Good Salisbury Steak
Ground beef steaks can fall apart while cooking. To prevent this, before cooking the Salisbury steak, place the steak patties in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or so. This will help hold the meat together. |
Here is a recipe to make a good Salisbury steak. Here are the ingredients that you will need in order to make the steak:
1 1/2 pounds of lean ground beef
1 egg
1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, chopped
1 tablespoon of Montreal steak seasoning
Salt
Pepper
3 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
1 small package freshly sliced Portobello mushrooms
2 tablespoon of unsalted butter
2 tablespoon of all-purpose flour
2 cups beef stock
The ground beef, egg, garlic, onion, steak seasoning, Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper should be mixed well preferably with hands in a large bowl. Make steak shaped patties that are about 2 inches thick, with this mixture.
Take 1 tablespoon of olive oil and heat it over medium-high heat in a skillet. Place the patties and cook for about 4 minutes per side until the outside of the steaks are nicely browned and the juices run clear. Remove steaks and cover with foil to keep them warm.
Add the rest of olive oil and butter to the same pan. Add mushrooms and cook for approximately 5 minutes over medium heat until tender. Season with salt and pepper. Mix flour with the mushrooms and cook for about 2 minutes. Slowly add in the beef stock, stir and cook until the sauce has thickened. Pour gravy over the steaks and serve.
