Crust Recipe For Fresh Strawberry Pie
Everyone loves strawberries, if not for their taste, then for their color and shape. In summer, it is an ideal fruit to make a pie. You can use graham crackers to make a crust, or you can also use vanilla cookies. All the pie would need is some whipped cream to top it up. |
Here is a simple crust recipe for fresh strawberry pie. All you need is around 50 vanilla cookies, 1/4 cup of melted butter and 2 tablespoons of sugar.
Before you start making the crust, pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then transfer the vanilla cookies to a clear plastic bag. Use a rolling pin to run over the bag to break the cookies into fine crumbs. If you find this procedure tedious, use a food processor or a blender. It works equally well, and it is definitely much faster.
Mix the vanilla cookie crumbs with the melted butter and sugar. Then take a 9-inch pie mold, add the vanilla cookie crumbs and press down. The crumbs should also be firmly pressed to the sides of the mold. Once you are satisfied, transfer the pie dish to the oven. Bake for around 10 to 12 minutes. During this time the crust will turn light brown in color.
Remove the crust from the oven and allow it to cool. This is important. Add the strawberry filling only after the pie crust has cooled down completely.
If you do not want to use vanilla cookies, you can also use Graham crackers or Oreo cookies to make the crust. The procedure is the same as the one described above.
