Italian Meatball Recipe

Italian meatball is purely a non-vegetarian dish. In the past, meat was consumed only by the rich. So, a common man could never enjoy meat dishes like Italian meatballs.

However, today people can enjoy this delicious dish that has found it way to practically all corners of the world.Any type of ground meat can be used to make Italian meatballs. However, beef is usually the preferred meat. Here are the basic ingredients for making delicious and mouth-watering Italian meatballs:
 

2 pounds of ground beef

1cup fresh breadcrumbs

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon of basil

1 tablespoon of fresh parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon of black pepper

1/8 teaspoon of Cayenne pepper

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce

2 eggs

3 tablespoons of olive oil

Mix all the ingredients, other than olive oil, thoroughly. You can use your hands to ensure that the meat and spices are mixed well together. Then roll the meat in small balls. The balls should have a diameter of around 2 inches.

Heat the olive oil in a skillet and then place the meatball into the skilled to sear them. This will ensure that the juices are retained. In the mean time, pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Transferred the seared meatballs to a pan, and place it into the oven. Allow 30 minutes for the meatballs to cook. In the mean time, prepare your Italian sauce. After that, introduce the meatballs into the sauce, and simmer the sauce for around 15 minutes.

In case you do not want to use a sauce, make sure you allow the Italian meatballs to cook for 45 minutes instead of 30.

This recipe makes around 16 meatballs.
