The body metabolizes fat for energy and that is why we lose weight when we exercise. The body will be burning fat when we work out. Protein makes the body work harder and burn out more fat.
However, what most people are unaware of is that eating excessive protein leads to a condition called ketosis. It is a condition where the liver starts converting the fat into fatty acids and releases ketones. The ketones elevate the acid levels in the blood, and it starts appearing in urine. Under extreme conditions the body goes into gluconeogenesis that is it starts producing glucose from other food sources like proteins. This could also lead to kidney damage, because high protein would be putting a lot of stress on the kidneys to digest the food.
Proteins are quite difficult to digest and they can also cause kidney stones because along with protein there will also be high content of minerals. The left over will form into a stone in the kidneys eventually.
