Banana was first found in Malaysia and eventually it spread to other countries like Sri Lanka, India and other surrounding countries. Bananas came to the western world when Alexander the Great brought them after conquering several of these countries.

Vitamin C has several important functions in the body for healing and also acts as an antioxidant. Vitamin C also helps in absorption of potassium and iron which are also found in a banana. It helps to fight against infections.

Banana also contains potassium which is a mineral that helps in protein synthesis and building of muscles in the body. It also helps in fighting hypertension and stroke. For high blood pressure patients banana is an ideal fruit because it has no sodium and is rich in potassium.

Banana also contains the rare B6 which helps to build antibodies and also promoted red blood cell formation. It also strengthens the functions of the central nervous system.

Banana is rich in protein, iron, calcium and carbohydrates. However, it is one of the easily digestive foods as it contains many dietary fibers.
