Minerals Iron In Food

Iron is an important part of the body and forms the hemoglobin carries the oxygen in the blood. If we do not have sufficient iron in our diet, then we may have problems like anemia and weakness. If a person has iron deficiency, then it means that the body is starved of oxygen. So, one of the most important minerals that the body needs is iron. This mineral is required for many bodily functions.

An iron deficient person often displays symptoms like fatigue, tiredness, weakness and anemia. Iron deficiency in women can cause serious health problems.

Iron is available in food items that we eat everyday. It is available in fruits, vegetables and meat. One of the best sources of iron is red meat. However, red meat is also known to cause several other problems like cholesterol and blood pressure. If a person eats lean meat and adds a lot of vegetables also to the meal, then they could strike the right balance and source of iron. Red meat along with vegetables will balance the ill effects of red meat and also give you a rich source of iron for daily consumption.

The human body is naturally adapted to consume only the required amount of iron everyday. Green leafy vegetables are also a rich source of iron content but not as much as red meat. So, people who are vegetarians should concentrate on eating spinach and fenugreek which are rich in iron contents. Beets also are a rich source of iron.
