Malnutrition degenerate the body. It reduces the body's capacity to carry out the normal function and development. Malnutrition is a major concern in poor and under developed countries where the people are not adequately fed to meet the nutritional requirements. Malnutrition once spotted should be immediately dealt with otherwise it leads to starvation, many diseases and infections. The most common effect of malnutrition is the damage done to the body's immune system. If the body does not receive its vital nutrients, it cannot fight against many diseases, and this will further make body prone to various kinds of infections. A malnourished body cannot repair the damage done to its tissues and cells.
Infections and diseases gives rise to stunted growth, mental retardation, lower assertiveness, reduced IQ, blindness, poor muscle growth, weak bones, reduced energy levels, poor cognitive abilities and so many other degenerative factors. Also, one more effect of malnutrition is dark spots in the skin although it is rarely noticed.
Malnutrition affects children very badly. If the children are born malnourished, they are most likely to have a poor body growth. Deficiency in iron, iodine and Vitamin A are very much common in children and possess a major challenge for countries. Such deficiencies reduce the ability of the body to resist diseases. For these children, unfortunately, this becomes a lifetime challenge. This has an impact on the development of a country as the children born with malnutrition weaken the efficiency.
