Obesity is spreading like an epidemic around the globe. Sedentary lifestyle and better standard of living owes to this. Obesity causes certain life threatening disease. This is the reason why people are becoming aware about their health and diet. Low fat diet has become a common thing for each one of us. When one thinks about losing weight the best thing is to have a lower content of fat in the food that one is consuming on the daily basis.

Fruits are considered to be good constitutes for good and healthy food. However, not all fruits have low content of fat. The fruits that one can have without worrying are papaya, apple, apricot, avocado, banana, cantaloupe, fig, grape, grapefruit, lemon, lime, kiwi fruit, mango, orange, blueberries, Boysenberries, cherries, cranberries, currants, gooseberries, loganberries, raspberries, strawberries, pear, peach, pineapple, plums, watermelon, and tangerine.

Apart from fruits there are varieties of vegetables that one can eat raw or cook in a minimum amount of vegetable oil. The low fat vegetables that can be consumed as a substitute for low fat are asparagus, bean sprouts, beets, Brussels sprouts, butternut squash, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, celery, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, green beans, iceberg, lettuce, leeks, mushrooms, onions, parsnips, baked potatoes, rutabaga, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, turnips and wax beans.

Avoiding red meat would be suitable and skin less poultry is the appropriate one. If you are having eggs, have them without the yolk. Fish of different varieties would be very good.

The next important item to be considered is legumes which are considered to be low in fat and high in protein. Various varieties of whole grains and low fat dairy products are an important thing that comes in low fat diet.

If one is having extra quantities of carbohydrates than prescribed, then it is of no use.
