What Foods Do Not Have Carbohydrates ?

While carbohydrates are vital for our body, excess or deficiency of this nutrient can lead to health complications in long run. Dieticians recommend moderated consumption of simple carb diets and regulated consumption of good carbs in order to maintain regular sugar levels.

In order to switch on to a “low carb” or “no carb” diet, one has to analyze which of the food items have less amount of carbohydrates in them. Generally, these food items are high in protein. Examples of this category include eggs, fish, meats and poultry. However, processed meat has more carbohydrates as they are processed using sugar, which is rich in carbs. You can bake or grill the meat while consuming and avoid frying.

Salads are very healthy as they are generally comprised of vegetables that have low carbs content. Lettuce, celery, spinach are excellent choices for salads as they have almost no carb content. However, you need to avoid high starchy vegetables like potatoes if you are looking at low-carb diet.

Several delicious cheese varieties are low in carbs content. Cheddar, muenster and fontina are some of the examples. You can also consume gruyere and Monterey Jack as they contain just 0.1g every 3 slices!

Water that is vital to regulate our body temperature and also keep it hydrated is carb free. An average adult should consume at least eight glasses of water everyday. Among other beverages vodka, gin, rum, club soda have very little or no carbs. However, they should be consumed in moderation as they are alcoholic.
