Does Vodka Contain Carbohydrates ?
Vodka belongs to the spirits family. it is one of the most popular beverages in the world. The name comes from the Slavic word and literally means water! Fermentation and distillation of these materials produces ethyl alcohol, also called as ethanol. It does not contain any carbohydrates or fat! The alcohol is not metabolized during digestion to form sugar. It is broken down to acetate by the liver and then water and carbon-dioxide are formed subsequently.
The low-carb campaign of vodka producers is quite popular these days in order to remove the misconception among people that spirits actually have more carbohydrates than beer and gin. In fact, you may be surprised to know that it is better to choose a screwdriver which is vodka-based drink than a low-carb beer in case you are looking at bringing down your carbs consumption!
