Healthy Directions For Brain Supporting Nutrients

Brain is the most advanced and the most fragile human organ that carries about 100 billion neurons that form the core of a most sophisticated and intricate neuronal network capable of analyzing more than 1,000 trillion information pathways.

Functions of the brain tend to decline significantly due to poor lifestyle habits and sustained exposure to toxic chemicals, pollutants and emotional stress factors. Hence, it is important to preserve the health of brain. The most effective way of improving the health of brain cells is to provide them support by means of healthy nutrients. Most important among these are the phospholipids.

There are two types of phospholipids that are phenomenally beneficial to the brain. These include phosphotidylcholine (PC) and phosphotidylserine (PS). Phospholipids are present in all the nerve cells inside the brain. There are five different types of phospholipids present in these cells that are useful for membrane formation and in the generation, transmission and reception of different stimuli.

Research studies suggest that Phosphotidylcholine is useful in the treatment of neurolonal diseases that arise due to choline deficiency. Important among these include Alzheimer’s disease and ataxia. Phosphotidylserine is helpful in the treatment of conditions that arise due to memory loss arising as a result of aging, reducing anxiety, depression and irritability, improvement of mood and other related cognitive functions.

There are certain other nutrients that support the functions of brain. These include omega-3 fatty acids, L-carnithine, dimethylaminoethanol and L-taurine. In addition, there are certain aminoacids that are helpful for transmitting stimuli between brain cells. These include L-glutamine, L-phenylalanine and L-tyrosine.
