Herbal Tea Recipes

Herbal teas are prepared by mixing the stems, leaves, seeds, flowers and roots of different herbal plants. The different ingredients are steamed, dried and powdered to give a powerful concoction of various strong ingredients, each rich in its own chemicals and aromas. They are very effective in curing numerous diseases and illnesses. They boost the body’s overall immune system helping the person stay fit and healthy.

You can prepare many herbal tea recipes at home. All you need are a few raw ingredients to get started. Lemon, ginger and honey are generally used. These are easily available in the market as well. Listed below are a few easy to prepare herbal tea recipes.

Herbal Iced Tea: This is a very preferred beverage among many during summer time. You will need the following ingredients:

  • Fresh lime: one
  • Boiling water: 2 cups
  • Blended peppermint and spearmint: 3 teaspoons
  • Honey: for tasting
  • Ice cubes

Firstly, peel the lemon using a fruit peeler spirally. Place this in a vessel. Add peppermint and spearmint mixture and pour boiling water into the vessel. Cover immediately. Allow the mixture to steep for ten minutes. Add honey and allow the mixture to cool completely. Strain the mixture and collect the liquid. Add ice cubes and consume the juice immediately.

For fighting flu and cough, boil water in a stainless steel container. To this, add one ounce of blackberry leaves, one oz. of linden flowers, one oz. of peppermint leaves and one ounce of elder flowers. Cover the lid and allow it to steep for ten to fifteen minutes. Strain and consume the juice. You can add honey for sweetness.
