Stewing Beef Recipies

Stew is prepared by boiling the frozen or hard food along with some liquids, such as water, beer, wine, etc. It is offered together with the liquid or gravy. Generally many types of vegetables and seasonings are added to it. It is a very healthy food. Beef stew is quite popular. It tastes wonderful on a cold evening.

Here are two simple recipes to make beef stew:

  • Chop 1 1/2 lbs boneless beef into 2-inch cubes. Chop one onion and one celery stalk. Skin 2 carrots and cut into small pieces. Chop 2 potatoes making small pieces. Now put some vegetable oil in a big pot with heavy bottom and tight cover. Place the pot on fire and heat the oil till it begins to smoke. Brown the meat pieces in the hot oil. Mix one tsp salt and 1/2 tsp ground pepper while frying it. Take out the browned pieces. Now stir fry the onion until they turn soft. Add 1/8 cup flour and cook on medium heat for 2minutes. Mix 2 crushed garlic cloves and stir for 1 minute. Put in 1/2 cup red wine and cook for 4-5 minutes. Now mix 1 ½ cups beef broth, 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme, 1 bay leaf, parsley and beef cubes. Put the lid on the pot and allow it simmer on low fire for nearly an hour. Then add all the cut vegetables and cook for another 1/2 hour, or till the beef and vegetables turn soft. Sprinkle seasoning of your choice. Allow it to rest. Serve it after 15 minutes.
  • Basic technique is same as above. Only difference is that of some ingredients. This second recipe includes beef pieces, bacon slices, mushroom slices, beef broth, pearled barley, all vegetables, spices and quantity of flour as above, green peas (add after 20 minutes of other vegetables), turnip, olive oil, and some seasonings. These are the easiest recipes for stewing beef.
