Turkey Roasting Time

Turkey is an integral part of any Thanksgiving ceremony. We just cannot miss her. There are various ways of cooking a turkey. Boiling, frying, grilling and roasting. However, most of you might prefer the roasted one. Now whenever you roast any meat we suggest you make use of a meat thermometer.

Firstly, stuff the turkey with the necessary ingredients and roast it in an oven. The roasting time predominantly depends on a lot of factors like weight, quantity and quality. A fully stuffed turkey might take at least 30 minutes to roast if kept at 165 degree F. If you do not want to stuff the turkey, then you need to make sure that the thermometer reads 180 degree F. You must know this by now that before roasting any meat you always have to preheat the oven. The oven needs to be preheated at 325 degree F.

Now suppose you have an 8 pound stuffed turkey it should certainly take a minimum of 3 1/2 hrs and an unstuffed might take 3 hrs. If you prefer a larger one, maybe 12 pounds stuffed turkey, it might take 4 1/2 hrs and simultaneously an unstuffed might take 4 hrs. Next, if the stuffed turkey weighs between 20 and 24 pounds, you need approximately 6 1/2 hrs to 6 hrs. These timings work if they are stuffed. An unstuffed might take less time. Now, when it comes to temperature each and every part of turkey should read 165 degree F. This should be the reading at the breast level.

If the turkey has not reached this temperature, your guests might surely be at loss. In case the meat is dark enough, it must reach a minimum of 180 degree F. Even after checking it with a thermometer you have to insert a knife in each and every corner to check the tenderness.
