First of all you need to know as to how long you need to roast. Just learn a simple steps and your turkey would certainly be the talk of town. If you opt for frozen turkey, make sure you give it a good resting time.

You mainly come across two types one being a hen turkey and other larger toms. Hen turkeys are small and larger toms usually weigh 18 pounds. Selection completely it depends on your taste, quantity, requirement and choice. Turkey breasts are also one of the options. Rest any of these frozen ones for at least three to four days.

Make use of aluminum foils to cover it while you place it in the oven. Remove the neck completely as well as the giblets. Wash the turkey well using cold water. Make sure you wash the insides too. Remove the excess skin or fat if necessary. Then place it on the pan and let it roast. Make sure that you had marinated it properly. You need to fill the inside with garlic, onions and celery. They would add extra flavor to it. Also place some of them on the plate. You should also add butter on top of the turkey so that it gets that shiny color. You can also add lemon juice or dry spices. The excess marinade can be stored and used for preparing soup or dumplings. Set the pan in a pre-heated oven at 350 degree F. It should turn brown. Check it after an hour in between till it gets fully brown. The total cooking time should be estimated at six hours. Insert a knife just to ensure that every side is roasted perfectly.
