Proper Temperature For Grilling Burgers

Grilling the burgers is not a very easy task, but the delicious taste of a properly cooked burger cannot be beaten. An average American adult loves to consume about 2 to 3 hamburgers every week. During spring and summer, the number only increases. This delicious dish is equally irresistible for kids also.

Grilling a burger is tricky because overheating can char the meat easily and this is harmful. Similarly meat that is not cooked properly can cause bacterial infections. Gas grills and charcoal grills can be used for the grilling process. While firing the gas grill and operating it is easier and quicker, charcoal grills enhance the aroma and flavor of the meat to a great extent. In addition, the meat is crispier and caramelized, and makes it more special though the grilling process is quite tedious.

Grill has to be preheated appropriately to a suitable temperature as instructed before you start the grilling process. For outdoor cooking, use medium or medium low heat. Keep the lid closed in order to retain the heat inside the grill. This would make the cooking process faster and keep the burgers moist. Drying of meat should be avoided as it can harden the burger.

Do not get carried away by the meat turning brown on the outside. There is no assurance that it is fully cooked in the center. Use a meat thermometer to measure the internal temperature of the meat. Insert the thermometer from the sides horizontally and make sure it reaches the center of the meat. The reading should be between 160 and 170 degrees F to ensure that the meat is fully cooked.
