Grilling Tips And Recipes For Charcoal Grills

To make grilling truly enjoyable, you have to first have some basics clear ideas, like knowing the optimum temperature and cooking time for each type of food you grill. First of all you should buy a charcoal grill which has some water storage capacity somewhere in its bottom as it will help get rid immediately of unwanted flare-ups.

You should use aluminum foil to cover the cooking grill, and remove it after the cooking is over. This prevents the food from sticking to the grill. You can also lightly oil the cooking grill for the same purpose.

The charcoal briquettes should not be moist as they will not catch fire easily. The charcoal briquettes should be stored in a dry place. An electric starter or chimney starter is ideal to start the fire for the charcoal briquettes. And remember to start cooking only when the charcoal is burnt to a white color. After the cooking is done, the accumulated ashes at the bottom of the grill is to be completely removed for the grill to cool down. After the grilling is done carefully extinguish the charcoal of the grill. Closing the lid of the grill and immersing them into water are some of the ways.

These are the most basic tips you should keep in mind while grilling.

Now coming to the recipes part of charcoal grilling. Here is a delicious steak recipe that you can cook on a charcoal grill. The ingredients for the marinade are as follows:

1/4 cup Sherry
2 tablespoons sugar
5 minced cloves of garlic
1 cup Red wine
2 tablespoons hot sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons minced ginger
8 to 10 green onions, sliced thinly
Steak of your choice

Mix the Sherry, wine, soy sauce, hot sauce and sugar together. Then add the green onions, ginger and garlic. Stir the mixture well.

Place the steak in a shallow bottom dish and pour the above mixture over it. Allow the steak to marinate for around 2 hours in the fridge. After that, cook the steak over a medium hot grill and use the sauce to baste it constantly until done.
