Turkey Baking Instructions

Fear becoming a turkey while cooking, one on this festive season of thanksgiving? Have you felt this, anytime that you couldn’t help finding yourself in a situation to cook the sumptuous bird? Maybe, you would be more confident once you read some useful tips ahead to cook the perfect turkey for your feast!

It is very essential that the pan used for cooking the turkey be up to the requirement of about 3 to 4 inches deep so that it is capable of containing the turkey juice. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and keep in mind that each pound of turkey would take around 15 minutes to cook and so, plan accordingly. Cleaning up the turkey would also involve removing the plastic bag that has the giblets and the neck. For dressing the turkey, you can use some butter on the turkey, which gives it a golden brown color. You can use a variety of spices to spice up your turkey like garlic, rosemary etc. Cover the pan with a lid or a tin foil wrapped loosely around the pan to put it in the pre-heated oven and do not forget to keep it moist with the help of a turkey baster every hour.

If you have stuffed your turkey, you need to cook it for an additional hour besides the cooking time you had taken into account with respect to the weight of the turkey and the time required to cook a normal turkey meat. Keep your uncooked turkey covered to keep it moist. You could consider using a small cup in the place of the turkey baster. Do remember to wash your hands thoroughly and also the parts that came in contact with the turkey to avoid any bacterial infection. You could use a thermometer to keep track of the cooking of your meat. The temperature in the deepest meat area should ideally be at 180 degrees.
