Best Methods In Cooking And Their Function

Generally every one is aware that cooking takes away most of the nutrients from the vegetables. Reheating leaves the food absolutely without any nutrition. Hence, fresh cooked food is considered very healthy. Here are some of the best methods of cooking.

Though there are numbers of methods of cooking, some of the best known methods are steaming, stir frying, quick broiling, stove top searing, and sautéeing. During summer, vegetables should be cooked lightly or steamed or sautéed with minimum oil and spices. Boiling, stewing and searing will give a good taste, and it also provides required nutrition suitable during winter.  During spring season when fresh, green veggies are available, it is better to cook them lightly to retain their nutrients and also the crunchiness.

Meats should always be cooked for longer time than the fish. So, the best option is baking, poaching or broiling. Frying meat adds more calories. Though the best way to cook fish is stir frying, the problem is that it may break while tossing if the right amount of oil and the right amount of tossing is not done. Also, this method of cooking fish requires a firm fish that does not break easily during the cooking process.

Poaching is also considered a healthy method of cooking fish because no oil is required, and it helps to retain the flavors and nutrition. Steaming is again a very good method, but you should take care to prevent steam from escaping.

In spite of the fact that most of the food we eat can be cooked with less amount of oil and fattening agents and they give us the required flavor, most of us tend to use excess oil and overcook the food, making it not so nutritional or healthy.
