What Is The Cooking Time For Meatloaf

For cooking a meatloaf, you need to preheat the oven to a temperature of 400°F. This would save a lot of cooking time as the meatloaf will start cooking right away at the temperature which is desire. You should not keep opening and closing the oven door during the process of cooking as it would increase the cooking time by almost 10 – 15 minutes. Remember that every time you open the door you are almost decreasing the temperature by 25°F. Be wary while cooking so that you do not land up having a burnt meatloaf.

You need to cook the meatloaf until you reach an internal temperature of 160°F. This would ensure safe consumption of the loaf and also kill the bacteria. You cannot predict any perfect timing for doneness. Generally, it takes 1 hour 20 minutes to cook 2 meatloaves depending on the recipe. Use a meat thermometer to check the temperature. You need to pierce through the thickest part of the meat to check the internal temperature.

When you want to reheat meatloaf, you could heat it up to an internal temperature of 140°F. This would make it taste optimal. You can also mix barbecue sauce and enjoy a better flavor. When you place the meat in the oven, cover it with aluminum foil. You can also sprinkle chili sauce and also brown sugar when you cook a sweet-loaf.

You can also prepare meatloaf a day before cooking and refrigerate it. If covered and frozen, it stays fresh up to 3 months of storage.
