Gas Grill Cooking Time For Chicken

Grilling or broiling is a form of cooking that involves direct heat. A grill is a contraption that grills. It can be gas fueled or charcoal. Electric indoor grills are comparatively of recent origin. Gas grills have the advantage of being able to cook smaller portions. They are of different types of material like stainless steel or cast aluminum. Both are rust resistant and general deterioration. Gas grills tend to heat up quickly. They are best on medium heat.

The chicken should be at room temperature before cooking. Place seasoned chicken on the grill and brown the first side before doing the other. The chicken is done when it reaches 165 degrees F or when the juices run clear. Times will vary with equipment, the wind, the outer temperature etc. A good instant thermometer should be used. It is generally done when the internal temperature reaches 160 or 165 degrees F.

To cook a whole chicken, wash it well and rub salt and pepper along with basil, rosemary or cilantro finely minced on that. Face it breast downwards and let it cook for 30 minutes. Carefully, turn the breast side up and cook for another 30 minutes.

To cook chicken pieces keep in mind that different parts like the breast will have different timings than that for the legs of the chicken. Turn on the grill to medium high. Place chicken pieces skin down and cook uncovered for 30 minutes. Turn frequently until the skin is golden brown and the meat cooked through. Barbecue sauce should be smeared on after 20 minutes of cooking. If applied at the start, it is liable to burn.

Turkey-Cooking-Temp      The recommended roasting temperature for turkey is between 325°F - 350°F. Higher temperature may result in drying of the meat while lower temperatures will not cook the interior parts of the turkey. Another common practice is to roast the turkey at a high temperature of 450°F - 500°F for the first half and hour, which causes the surface to become brown, and then reducing the temperature to 325°F.
