Banana Pudding Cooking Tips

Banana pudding is a delicious dessert that combines layers of ripe banana slices, custard and also delicious vanilla wafers. To get the best taste in pudding, prepare your own custard from scratch. You can also use instant pudding mix available in the market. This is a great and fast dessert for a potluck gathering as it is very easy to prepare. The only ingredient that takes time is the custard, if you choose to prepare at home.

Banana Pudding Cooking Tips:
To prepare custard, mix sugar, a pinch of salt and corn starch and whisk this mixture in the milk. Cook this in a boiler until it begins to bubble. Add egg yolks and add it to this hot mixture. Continue to cook until the mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Stir it on butter and vanilla extract and allow it to cool.

You can alternate layers of pudding, bananas and vanilla wafers in your vessel. Decorate the pudding with your favorite toppings but do not leave the custard exposed as the milk skin may form over it. Garnish the top with fresh whipped cream, chocolate, nuts and also meringue. You can also make it look rich with a combination of choco chips and nuts. Finely chopped dry fruits can add a lot of taste and make the pudding look colorful.

The banana pudding tastes the best when it is chilled and served. Enjoy your pudding and win a lot of appreciation from your friends and family at your next supper.
